Here's yet another trick that has proven effective method for getting through to California's Employment Development Department (EDD CA)!
This method was submitted by Kenny and many have used this to get through to a real person at California Unemployment. As a result, it has earned a spot here...
THIS NUMBER TOTALLY WORKS: 714-687-4400. Tried for HOURS w/ the 800 number and couldn't get anyone. Called the 714# and got through right AWAY!!!! Spoke to a live person who was VERY HELPFUL, and answered all my questions. **Must call between 8 am - 12 pm.
Were you able to get through to a live person at California Unemployment using this method?

This number gets you through to a person. Be patient and keep hitting zero. And call back if you get a busy signal. They may not be able to help with your specific issue but you do get a person.

Called this #, pushed "0" many times, it rang and rang each time and then that fateful message came on "we are receiving too many calls right now to take your call",etc. I have been trying for 2 weeks to get in touch with a live person because I am out of state filing for CA UE. HELP!!!

This number connected me to the Overpayment department of EDD. The operator forwarded me right back to the 800 number where my call was once again rejected.

I called the 714 number and was connected to a live operator who immediately transferred me to the 800 number before I could even say two words! I called her back repeatedly about 10 times asking to speak to her supervisor until finally she put me on hold and the supervisor came on. The supervisor apologized to me when I told her how the other lady treated me and she nicely assisted me with questions I had about my claim. The moral of the story is, If first you don't suceed try again!!!

I tried the 714 number and it worked. It was answered by a live person who transferred me to another person - after about 20 min on hold I got connected to a very helping lady who answered my questions about the debit card and payments. Thank you so much for providing this, really helpful!!

My Sweet Jesus! This # works!!!!!

The person who answered asked if I was told to call this number...I totally lied and said yes (you should as well). He asked for my ss#, then patched me thru to the lady (so nice) who interview me. I spoke with her, and she says I can expect my funds TOMORROW!

Hallelujah!

Note: a person on eddsucks.com suggested being nice and respectful once you have someone on the phone. Do that! Do that in your everyday life. You WILL get your blessing. :)

Wow this number worked! After going around in circles with the 1800 numbers on the EDD site, I came across this and it worked like a charm. The woman who answered was very helpful in figuring out why I hadn't received my payments. Amazing!!

This was wonderful. After trying all morning to get through the 800 number EDD provides which just sends you in a vicious phone tree circle and never to a live person, I got desperate and did a online search and found this. Hallelujah, I was talking to a live person who was very helpful within 5 min. Thank you, thank you.

Hi. Around what time did you recieve your payment the next day ? Last Friday I was told I can expect my payment by today. But it’s only 2:40 am and I’m being impatient probably. The supervisor guaranteed that I will receive my payment today so I was hoping it would deposit by midnight but it didn’t

This actually worked: (909) 799-8700 !!! WOW! I got a nice young lady, who did ask me to call the 800 #, but I told her how long I have been waiting for someone to call me regarding my claim. She transferred me to a line, and I got a nice gentleman who helped me and fixed my claim. I would have never known how to report earnings on my UI claim properly had he not helped me. I never write comments, but for once I decided to. Because this is REAL, and people like me are out here searching for answers.
Be kind when calling, never demanding. You are the one asking for assistance, and no one will assist you if you act like a DIVA.
Thanks again!

Thank you so much!!!! I called this number and found out I was approved 2 months ago but nobody ever lifted the hold on my profile so due to a glitch I wasn't getting paid and nobody would have ever noticed! If it hadn't been for this number I never would have spoken to someone to review my profile and fix it! Now I will be getting back pay for the last 2 months! Praise God!

Called the local office of my local state assembly person and they said they could speed the process up and have it figured out in a week. Just got off the phone and in less then 10 min, answered all of my questions and confirmed everything for me and was super nice. THANK YOU!

This number actually worked! I called for the first time and got an operator on the phone pronto. Unfortunately, they weren't able to help me with anything since the senate hasn't decided whether to extend the benefits or not. It's already been a month since my last payment. Today Feb.7, 2014 I called the (909) 799-8700 after 2:00 pm and a switchboard operator answered and said she would connect me to someone who can help me. The phone rang once an an exceptionally helpful EDD staff person responded to my questions regarding my claim expiring 3.8.14 where I still had a balance. She told me that I SHOULD file a claim 1-5 days before the expiration date to ensure there is no break in time for receiving checks and that this is NOT considered an extension because there is still money left on my claim. Whew am I thankful for this information. Hope this helps anyone who finds themselves in a similar position. GOOD LUCK!!!

Today, 2/17/2014, I called this 909 number, got thru in the first try, found out my claim was flagged, they fixed the problem and my payments have been approved! I've been waiting for over 1.5 months! This totally worked! And if I wouldn't have been able to get thru, they wouldn't have told me anything about my claim being flagged and I'd still be waiting! Thank you!

I am on the phone right now trying to figure out the problem. At least I reached a real person after days of trying the 800 number only to get through all the button pushing and have the recording tell me they were busy and could not help me at this time. I have now found out that they will have to send me an appointment interview date and time and this will take maybe three more weeks. Gotta love unemployment (not).

(909) 799-8700 worked in less than two minutes. Very nice man with a slight accent. Got everything squared away. Operator answered the phone within 10 seconds, then transferred me to a live person. Be patient when transferring as the 30 seconds in between was quiet sound. Whole call lasted less than 5 minutes.

Does not work if your claim is for disability...only for unemployment. I did get through right away but she said that office has no access to disability claims and the only number she had for disability was the 800-480-3287 number that you can never get through on.

This worked perfectly for me. Here's how my convo went:

Rep: Hi, EDD, how can I help you?
Me: Hi there. I'd love to speak with someone who can help me with delayed payments on my unemployment benefits. Are you able to help me?

Rep: I can definitely transfer you to someone who can.

Short hold time of 1 minute..

Then I had a conversation with a lovely representative who was incredibly helpful. She acknowledged how bad the 800 number is and even escalated my situation to a supervisor for quick processing.

OMG! After trying for days to get through to someone to help me fix my claim form, that was returned as I apparently did it wrong (my first time ever applying for benefits), i finally got someone! A gentleman answered the phone, i advised what i needed help with and then he put me on hold, 1 minute at the most! then a very nice lady come on the line, i told her my issue and she went ahead and helped me out. she was very patient as i really had no idea what i was doing, but she fixed everything for me! The 909 really worked for me!

After the frustration of getting hung up on several times using the 800 number (due to the "maximum number of callers reached), I tried the 909 number and was able to get a live person! She wasn't able to help me, but gave me a number I can call instead. It was the number of the local DI office. I called the number and it was for their HR department, so not too helpful for me. However, the HR lady took down my name and number and someone from their office called me back within a few hours!! The person that called me was very helpful and was able to answer my questions.
Calling the 800 number will not get you anywhere and will result in a big waste of time and energy. You'll also end up with a big headache.

(909) 799-8700 worked for me after only a couple of rings on Sept 28, 2015. I was calling on two phones, the first one for 714-687-4400 which was ringing for some time to no avail. The 909 number won! The helpful man sounded Vietnamese so if you can figure out when to enter response numbers on the Vietnamese line, it's probably a good avenue as well, but I don't think I was ever doing it in the right order.

It's still going to take weeks to resolve my claim but at least I'm going in the right direction :) Also, they gave me a fax number to send in my updated materials which I thought *might* be helpful so here it is: EDD Fax # 619-525-4248

for northern California east bay, 909-383-4663, people were nice and fixed the problem that I had created. I started with the Sacramento number 916-683-4400 and hit zero every 40 seconds (for 15 minutes) when the message came on and eventually someone live answered saying that they did not have my claim but gave me the number above and transferred me directly into the correct call center. best wishes.

909-383-4663 # did not work. First time tried, someone answered and said to hold, then hung up. Second time, someone answered and said to hold, after 5 minutes of holding the call was disconnected. Third time, call was disconnected after 2 rings. Fourth time, someone finally answered and did not put me on hold, but did tell me she couldn't help me and to call the 800 #. I asked if she would be able to transfer me and she refused.

Unreal. I can't believe how quickly they help you. The 800 number is a joke, I suggest we "take off and nuke that number from orbit, its the only way to be sure".. Call the 909 # they pick up immediately and I was taken care of in a little over 10 min. The lady I talked to was helpful and what a relief knowing this is the real way to get taken care of.

It does work & only took me 3 minutes before I got a live person. However, he ended up transfering me to a "operator" as he put it but it simply went back to the initial recording where I pressed 0 again and then got a busy signal. This is BS!!!

I just called the 714 phone number and the person who answered on the first ring was so unbelievably rude to me she left me in tears. I have never been treated so badly for saying "Good Morning, how are you? I was hoping to get some help..." And then get interrupted with a woman barking at me "How did you get this number?" multiple times. I said a friend gave it me and suggested I call because it was very helpful. She barked at me that this was a private number and I was not supposed to have it. I apologized and said I just needed help, I've trying to get through to EDD for two months. She asked for my SS#, and then told me I wasn't a member of this office. I apologized again, tried to thank you for your help, and she hung up on me. I have never, ever, ever, ever been treated so badly in my life. I wish I had gotten her name, but I was just in shock. DO NOT call this number. You will be treated HORRIBLY. And being polite does not work. The woman who answered the phone should be ashamed of herself.

I called the 714-687-4400 number and got through (after pressing 0 several times to remain on hold for the next available service rep) to a very nice and helpful woman. I explained that EDD had got my last employer address wrong, plus my award didn't reflect my wages from that employer (hence, my award amount was too low). She corrected the employer address and advised that she cancel the claim so I could reapply next week in order for the standard base period to include a third quarter of employment. She said this would bump me up to the maximum allowance and give me 26 weeks of benefits instead of 24. Thanks for giving me a number that got results! This number works!

So I've cracked a few codes.
Dial edd do not wait for the language prompt
Immitietly dial 1212 it will take you to a message to confirm address payment mail to " your address"
Same again dial 1919 or hit the 1 & 9 simultaneously to get to your benefit information section.
Hope this helps
BTW most gov offices have phone # s that are close to the listed number.
Example. Local jail number 781. 4540. Jail medinlisted 4516
Usually departments start and stop in close sequence.

The 714 number worked for me as well, but the most recent comment was correct: they asked me while I was calling so that they could forward me to the correct department. Luckily, I really have been having issues with my UI claim, so I was able to speak to that operator for a minute or two before she transferred me to a manager who was able to talk to me more at length. She helped me out by identifying what some of the issues could be. Nevertheless, I know what I have to do right now and I'm thankful I was able to speak to live people. I would definitely enforce the idea of just being very nice with any live representatives you speak to over the phone just because they don't deserve any mistreatment and that they are regular folks like you and me. Regardless, thanks for helping me save myself from more headaches!

I called 714-687-4400 late yesterday and never got through after pushing "0" many times. I called today at 9:30am after reading to call before 12pm. Got through to someone after a min or so. They said they were the overpayment department and gave me the number 909-383-4661 for reference and transferred me. I was on hold and then it seemed to go back to the original menu and I had to start pushing "0" again. A woman clicked on and said she was putting me on hold. After a couple of minutes she came back, asked for my social security # and birthdate and put me on hold again. Then another guy came back after another min and asked for the same info. He was able to answer my questions and take a look at my account.

Not sure what happened there but I got transferred to the right person eventually. My advice is call early in the day and try again if you don't get the right person. There are a ton of people on the other end, you just don't know who will be receiving your call. I was on the phone for 11 min in total. I was expecting worse.

It worked for me, but I was quick to point, and pointed out that I was calling from a local area. I just needed back claim forms and to change my address. I had tried the web site but had not seen any action other than an email 12 days ago saying this had been done (It hadn't). I feel if you call and have all your stuff in order they will not be too bothered, but if you have a ton of questions than they might not want to be so helpful. It's clearly a field office for pushing papers because the guy I got to help me was not very good with his phone skills, but he was very helpful, and helped me in about 3 min and I had tried the #800 an hour a day for a few days with no success. (PT Job only allowed me one hour a day to call). Anyway goodluck everyone. I know it's hard but you'll get through just keep trying.

I tried this yesterday (I guess before it caught on) and the lady was SUPER nice. She said that she couldn't help me, but that she would connect me (DIRECTLY) to the department that could (haven't been paid or received new forms for six weeks) and get this: She told me, "in case you get disconnected, here is THEIR phone number." (310) 330-5904. I called it, got a person immediately but got put on hold for an hour. At the strike of noon (call centers closed) the call disconnected and when I tried to call back it didn't work. I tried calling phone number #2 this morning and kept getting a busy signal, so tried Kenny's 714-687-4400 number again. The women who answered was a total b*t¢h! "Call the 800 number!" and hung up was all I got. After redialing the second # I finally heard ringing. Pressed 0 about ten times at the "our operators are busy, press 0 to continue holding" prompt. A honest to god live person answered, but only took my SSN, name and phone number to "call me back." ...So we will see if that actually happens.

i believe in the "pay it forward" ideal. I've came across this blog due to the frustration on contacting the EDD via the 800#. its best to get through to an edd person via the county where your documents are porcessed. i.e if your continued claim form was from San Bernardino ca., best to call their number. mines was actually from there. I tried the 213 number kept pressing 0 until I got a busy signal that disconnected me. Tried the 714 number and that bitch was rude transferred me to the same number that we have all been calling for months. I tried the 909 number and it worked! A lady answered and transferred me to a nice lady that helped me! It is a good thing I was persistent and didn't wait because my address was wrong and my benefits were pending for no reason. If I hadn't called this number I would have never gotten anything. Thanks so much for this trick!!!

I filed in Ca and tried Kenny's 714# but after hitting zero a million times i got nothing. Tried the (909)799-8700 and got someone right away!!! They ask you where would you like to be directed, i told them i just need to speak to someone about my claim. She transferred me and I spoke with a very nice and helpful woman who got me exactly what i needed. turns out my payments were on hold for weeks due to them not recieving my DD214 (for military). Noone told me i needed to send that in.She was very polite and apologized on EDD's behalf. If you are still trying to file a claim or have a million questions i wouldnt bother calling this number. She told me they deal with more on the employer's side. Thanks everyone!

I'm seriously crying right now because I called this number (at 11:56am) and got through to a very compassionate EDD employee named Tim who looked over my account information, listened to me explain my situation (I filed in August and have yet to see any benefit payments), and even told me his frustrations with the new EDD computer system and what they have been going through (he works about 55-60 hours a week). He told me he was taking my account to his supervisor to discuss what they can do to get my claim forms back on track and get my payments sent to me as soon as my appeal goes through, which I filed yesterday. I am expecting a call back from him today, so fingers crossed.

(909)799-8700 worked great for me. One try and got a nice lady that gave me tips and instructions and then forward me to several of her colleagues in San Bernardino until found one that was available.
The number above, #714, did not work at all. Not matter how many times you press zero.

714# + 30 zeroes got me to a human who listened to my tale of woe and gave me a 909# that didn't work.

I tried the 909# above on a whim and it took me to another human who transferred me to another human named Christy. Christy fixed me up in under a minute, and now I'm all set.

First time on unemployment and received my Notice of Unemployment Insurance Award letter, but all the fields were $0.00.
Since I worked consistently for the past 7 years, I knew that had to be wrong.

Tried calling the 800 number and several other numbers listed here for over three hours with no success. Finally tried the (909)799-8700 and someone picked up immediately. They connected me to the nicest lady named Kate who was extremelly helpful, I actually teared up just hearing a nice voice on the phone.

So this is my second time posting on here. I finally figured out the secret. When you call the infamous (909) 799-8700 a lady answers(sounds like the sae lady everytime) and asked "how would you like to be directed?" To get directed to the right place I told her i need to speak with someone about not receiving my claim forms.(even though I have been getting them) it seems to be the only way they will help you. I was transferred to a very nice lady who helped me 100%. Its kind of a luck of the draw getting someone nice and helpful though. Hope this helps. By the way. Even if you get passed the 1800 number opening message and hit the right buttons to speak to a rep. it will still tell you there are too any callers waiting at this time and it hangs up on you.. -_- smh good luck

I tried the 408 number, as it is local for me. Called between 10am and 11am. It took two calls. They tell you your claim isn't in their office, but they do transfer you to the cue. The first time I was transferred, it rang for 30 minutes and then dropped to no-man's land. But the second time I called, I was transferred, rerouted to the operator, transferred again, and then it only rang for 3 minutes before I spoke to the correct person. Singin' the hallelujahs! Thanks everyone!

She did say she is was a help center for Employers only and she was limited on what she could see and help me with. But she still took the time to look up my info. Basically said because of the stupid EDD computer "upgrade" that my account was just sitting in LIMBO. She said she would submit a form to red flag my claim so somebody would pay attention to it! She said it was a process and would take time, and I most likely won't get paid before xmas but at least someone is doing something now. Grateful for this number thank you!!

After trying for days to get through (the definition of insanity) I did a search and found this link. I called the 909 799 8700 number and had to press 0 to continue waiting for an operator who took my call and connected me to a real person who was able to route my call to the correct department. I would happily email if I was provided a real address that would provide me with actual communications that the EDD required of me to continue my claim.

I hope the EDD reads this as they need to provide another method of communication when they require the claimant to communicate with them and the phone number provided is overloaded and will not work.

EDD please fix this problem.

Thank you

Very nice, transferred me to another human who was also very nice, who transferred me to her less nice supervisor, "Carol", but she at least did her job efficiently and cleared up the glitch in my application left by "Lena", with whom I had a telephone interview over 4 weeks ago and she apparently hadn't completed the application to where the debit card could be mailed. So, my card should come in 5 days and the continued claim forms should resume. After hours of calling the EDD 800# day after day, I finally have hope. Thanks KENNY!!!

Just to let you know that the 909 number works. They are very helpful over there. Talked to the operator first (nice lady) who tried to help me, and then she forwarded me to Nicole who is a blessing to the unemployed just looking for help. Kudos to that part of the department.

The 800 number is a joke, 300 calls later, including 1/2 of them using the employer option, I gave up.

The 714 Number refused to help me saying they can't open claims there. On The 310 number, after waiting 40 minutes, a woman answered and told me I was in an "adjuster's queue" and would be next. However when she connected me it went straight to his voice mail and I left a name and number. He still hasn't called back.

HOWEVER; the 909 number worked!!!! I called and a receptionist told me everyone was busy and she couldn't help me, after talking to her I asked to hold and she told me to call back after 1:00pm. I did and Viola! A woman named Gaby helped me re-open my claim and even called me back when she said it was going to take her a few minutes to do. She was great and I got it done after THREE WEEKS of trying. UGH! Thanks so Much for the help here.

I tried the 800 numbers since 12/01 starting at 0800 every single day and was unable to get through. I was willing to go into the office if needed to apply in person if it got me what I needed, but I couldn't find a location or anything that said it was even possible to apply in person. I tried this number and it WORKED as of 1/14/2014!

She told me that they don't file new claims, however if I had a claim she could help me with it. She also gave me an address of a location so I could go apply in person and told me what to tell the people when I got there since the 800 numbers don't work.

THANK YOU!!!! I never thought any of this was going to work.

After fighting with unemployment for 4 months, I finally got a revised award letter. Since then, I've received nothing. Over the span of two days, I've tied 150 times to call, and have sent emails twice this month to no avail. I just got off the phone with Katherine at the 909 number, and she found out all that's needed is my paperwork to be signed off by a manager and released! So she sent a message over to have that done, and released my claim forms to me! Woo hoo!! So GLAD someone posted this number to this site!!!!

(909)799-8700 amazing, mind you this is not a call center so they have limited access to information (i.e. they are still learning the new system put in place back in September, most people can remember that). 909# worked for me!! A guy picked up right away and I told him I needed help with my claim and he transferred me to Nicole who helped me out with my question. None of the other methods worked. 800# always hung up, 310# I pressed 0 over 15 times and it just hung up and the Vietnamese line didn't work as well. I never post in forums but after going through the frustration of not reaching a live person I thought this might help those who feel the same. Good luck!!

I can concur that the (909)799-8700 does indeed work! It did auto-hang-up on me about 6 times, but once someone answered, he was very friendly and connected me to someone that was able to answer my questions! After dialing the 800 number thousands of times (631 times in one day on one occasion) and NEVER ONCE getting through to someone, this is just heaven.

the 714 # does not work and I would be extremely cautious about calling these "special" numbers that are offered on the internet.
Here is my experience:
1. I called the #
2. An automated message (woman's voice) said "thank you for calling EDD; our operators are busy; press 0 to continue waiting."
3. After pressing 0 a few times, a young woman answered the phone with "Hello?" Then a man who was also trying to get through to EDD began asking her questions and offered his entire social security # to her. The woman was obviously confused and did not work for EDD, so she hung up on him. Somehow, I was able to overhear this entire conversation, but they could not hear me.

Keep pressing zero...it may take a few minutes, but they will pick up.
SOO MUCH BETTER than the 800 number where you end up at a dead end and are forced to hang up and start over.

Have a pleasant attitude from the second you say "Hello, and thanks for answering my call..."

These people deal with LOTS of frustrated and unpleasant individuals, so if you're the nice person of the morning, they will treat you nice as well.

I have used this number several times in December 2013 and now in January 2014. It's hit or miss really. Depends on who answers the phone. Some reps get mad you called that number, some transfer you immediately to the appropriate field office according to your social sec number. Also depending on the rep you are transferred to, you may or may not get treated like a human being. If you ask too many questions on a complicated claim they transfer you into the 800 number that hangs up on you. I finally was transferred to the Sacramento office on the 5th call I made. The amazing rep I spoke to handled everything and submitted my payment right away. Then proceeded to tell me how incompetent the Inglewood office was and they were now having to correct Inglewood mistakes they are making on peoples claims. Inglewood reps 3 separate times made mistakes on my claims holding up payment for weeks at a time and the Sacramento office seems to be correcting the mistakes, actually handling issues instead of hanging up on you , being rude, or transferring you into the 800 system. INGLEWOOD REPS SHOULD BE FIRED, per your Sacramento office and per me as well! So glad I found this number or id still be waiting on money from 6 months ago!

Just pathetic we all call the same numbers and all have different results. That's why the system is so screwed up. I can call the same number in the same day and be told something different each time. I am nice and not rude. They are the rude ones. If I don't like what one person is telling me, I now hang up on them and call the number again and get someone new. Some of these people screw with you. I was awarded 450 a week and got checks, then an idiot rep changed something and my payments went to 188 a week. Then had to contact someone else that wanted me to fax my fax my paystubs for proof. I knew that was BS. So I hung up on her, called again and got my check adjusted back to the original 450 a week without having to fax anything. RIDICULOUS! It cant be that damn hard to run that system! AND maybe... just maybe. you should increase the hours the employees work so you can get the s@%t together and the new system down pat then go back to the fours a day. So stupid they are trying to do all of these things on a four hour day while the rest of us lose homes and cars and lives! Years ago EDD worked like clockwork. Now they are a bunch of morons that hate their own jobs and cant pay bills so why do they care of we have money to pay bills! THEY DONT!!

These numbers do get you through to a person, but they are now wise to this website. The guy I talked to was polite and transferred me, but he did mention that these numbers were not supposed to be used and that they had been reported online (in other words, they're not happy). The guy transferred me to a main line (where you continually press '0' to get someone). It transferred me to the wrong office (I needed LA) and I am still getting nowhere.

HAPPY CAMPER I want to share
2/5/2014 02:19:33 am

OK FOLKS, In a nutshell...AVOID all calling on Mondays. Its useless! Why the hell do they keep advertising the 800 number since it clearly doesn't work at all anymore! Why do they say to email when they clearly do not respond ? I DONT GET IT!

so.. the 909 number is an EMPLOYER number and they cant really help with claimants. The 714-687-4400 number is the OVERPAYMENT department and they are upset half the time you call, but it will get you transferred to who you need. This number is key in getting you where you want to be! When you call the 714 number they will answer with in a few minutes, ten minutes max.. then they will ask your social # and then transfer you to your correct department handling your claim. If you are able to get a sentence out before they hang up be sure to ask for the number directly so you don't have to keep calling them to be transferred. That's what I did. I received the following number 310-330-5803. I then called it and GOD BLESS I got through with in ten minutes. I needed an Appeal Specialist since I won my case and never heard back from the EDD for over a month. That lady at the 310 # transferred me to the Appeal specialist. At first it was a voice mail and so I hung up and called the 310 number back again.. and again she transferred me to the Appeal Specialist. This time the lady answered on the first ring. She then found my claim and released my back payments and today 24 hrs later..my debit card now has $3,000.00. She also saw that my newest claim form had not been paid due to the computer not being able to read the address ( I work part time and I fill in the employer part) So she magically went to a manager and manually released the payment. So I am a HAPPY CAMPER and that's just what we are going to do for Valentines weekend. We are going to Joshua Tree to camp! WHoot WHoot. I am now up to date. I hope I do not have to ever dial these numbers again, until of course the computer cant read the claim form again.. LOL. Follow my advice . it works. I see people that won appeals back in November and December and they still have not been paid. Some blame Deloitte software. I blame the claimant for not taking the serious amount of time and effort to figure it out. Think of it as a job just to get EDD to follow through.! Now my claim will end in August of 2014 and I really hope I get more work or the extensions come back or else Im bailing on California and moving to another state. Im so over California for many many reasons and ive lived here 30 years! Just keep calling until you get what you want. If the people hang up, call back. There are usually different people that answer from time to time so who cares if they get mad. If they would help you wouldn't have to keep calling. Good Luck. Im off to buy a new sleeping bag!

Spoke with someone in my State Assembly District office who listened patiently hrough my tears and frustration and said the EDD has 6 people answering all those calls! He took my information and is sending it on urgent status to EDD (about to be evicted) he said it might take 5 days for someone to call me back. He was even nice enough to send me an email with his info for follow up. Had my telephone interview on 1/21/14 and the call was disconnected on their part. I've been calling 800 # over 150 times daily and sent numerous emails.....hope this works. If anyone has cheat sheet numbers for San Diego area please pass them along....good luck everyone!

TO ALL WHO NEED HELP****The 714-687-4400 number DOES indeed work and I just got off the phone with a very nice woman who answered all of my questions and took her time with me. I must say that I had to call a few times because the first attempt, after getting a live person within just 3 minutes, ended up putting me back at the initial recording and after pressing 0 a few times I ended up getting a busy signal. On the 2nd attempt is where I got another live person in just 2 minutes and she is the one I mentioned above. WTF is going on with that 800 # because IT DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE!!!

To anyone who says the number doesn't work for them, try putting a "1" in front of the 714 because it truly does work and I am proof of that.

Wow, the number 909-799-8700 worked wonderfully. After 2-weeks of trying unsuccessfully everyday to connect to a person with the 800#, with this 909 number I was able to speak with a person immediately, betransfered in 1-minute, and 5-minutes later with another human get my issues completely resolved! My issue is that after filing a new complain I made mistakes on the first continued claim and then the replacement claim. If I hadn't reached EDD by a certain date my claim would have been closed completely and I'd have to refile. Thankfully the gentleman I spoke to instantly corrected the mistake on my claim, initiated payment, and is mailing me the continued claim forms that have been backlogged waiting for a resolution. Use this number, it works! 909-799-8700

It works!! It works!! It works!! --- BUT...the lady who answered (after I hit zero twice) said that she had been instructed to tell those calling to dial the 800 number, but after I voiced my frustration with getting through that number - very nicely - she got someone on the line who answered all my question and was an absolute peach!!!

I never post anything on anything, but I have to say that this number was absolutely amazing! After many days of spending an hour or 2 calling the 800 number and getting the annoying "hang-up-in-your-ace" message, I am so relieved to find this number. I got through to a person after pressing 0 just a few times, and they transferred me around a bit, but everyone was extremely helpful. I hadn't had a payment come in for nearly a month, and they told me that they were glad that I called as my payment was held up due to a clerical error that would not have been found for very long time had I not called. Im getting all my back pay in 2 days! Thanks Kenny and everyone else!

I just got off the phone with a man at the 909 number. Unbelievable, This man was an absolute joy to speak with. I am still in shock. It took me less then 2 minutes to get him. He solved all my problems in a matter of 10 minutes. You can wait until there is no unemployment left in the system to get someone on the 800 number. They should be ashamed of themselves. He told me that unemployment is very pleased that the percentage of helping people went from 17% to 30 %. Not sure what pleases them about that. He didn't either. Those employees are on the same page as we are. Frustrated.

Thank God, this really works. I have been trying for days, calling from overseas, and finally got through. I began with the 909 number, which is for unemployment insurance, and is in San Bernardino. Although my problem deals with disability, the lady that answered was very helpful, and told me that I could call another number, which not only got me through to a live person, but he completely resolved the problem. The number to call for disability is 909-388-7695. Please don't abuse this number, and treat them nicely, as these folks really will work to resolve your problem.

714 # is only for overpayments and they will rudely hang up on you or transfer you to the 800# The 909# WORKS! Very polite operator transferred me to Maria. Told her my story and she needed a supervisor to fix it in the system. I waited almost in tears for 10 minutes in silent on hold and then.....SHE CAME BACK and fixed the issue! Happy Day!!!!

I thought Paid Family Leave was part of EDD, since some docs that I've received have their logo stamped on them. Anyways, this didn't help for that. This number is strictly for Disability and Unemployment. If you're calling for PFL, you're SOL b/c they'll just transfer you to the PFL line. However, I did get through on the 3rd time around.

A special thanks to the people that set up this website!!! THANK U! as of July 2014, you can pretty much get through calling the 213 no 714 or 909 number, in which case they will route you to your office that is handling your claim. Also if you call 800 at 8A and hear the the welcome message press 1 then 671 I think the first number 1 is for English so if you need Spanish press that number followed by 671 OR going into an unemployment office and use their house phone...You will also need to apply the 671 technique in the UI office. I have since called EDD /UI SEVERAL times, a little of a wait 2 to 20 mins. (NOTE) if you are reading my post look at other post for the complete numbers to dial beginning with 213 714 or 909

Needed to dial '0' repeatedly in order to keep waiting. Was picked up by a helpful gent who listened to my question and redirected me to another department focussed on my concern.
Still needed to dial '0' repeatedly to keep waiting. Was picked up by a nice lady who also listened to my concern and then transferred me directly to the person who had my answer.
No more dialing '0' on this one. The gent that picked up listened to me question was polite and quick to explain my situation in full such that I understood what was to happen next.
Total time was 16 minutes. I used the 800 number for over an hour with no results so I searched for this solution.

Then I tried the 909-799-8700. Got a busy signal the first four times I tried, but on the 5th time, someone picked up right away. Pleasantly transferred me to a representative who answered in less than a minute and helped me with everything in a very pleasant manner. Praise the Most High YHWH GOD!!!

Tried the 714# and the Overpayment rep answered right away: she was a little gruff. But I atribute her demeanor to the probability that their office receives a ton of calls, daily, which have nothing to do with overpayment. Be polite and concise, delivering your concern with the awareness that you will be connected to someone who can effectively attend to your personal matter. Now even though, after discerning your call cannot be managed by anyone in the Overpayment office, you will be transferred over to the main Edd line, be patient! Here is the key or "trick":

The line your being transferred with will allow you to hit 0 in order to wait for an attendant to answer the call. Before when calling the traditional way you never hear that option. Thus, for those patient enough, this nuanced route bears within the achievement to the goal of actually speaking to a live EDD rep on the phone. The key is being persistent.

In conclusion: after pressing the 0 button on my phone, I believe, a total of two times (your personal experience may vary) I spoke with a EDD rep who could help. She was able to transfer me to another rep who attended to my call extremely polite and sufficiently. So excited I was! Through all the vain efforts I had made in precious occasions by using the 800 #, I had almost forgotten how to appreciate true EDD customer service. So, be calm for you have now made it.

Blessings.

The 714 number does supply a live person, however most will now only transfer you to the 800 #. They say that the 714 # is the eligibility issue department.

The 909 number rings and then disconnects. I tried that for a full half an hour. People who are getting thru... What time are you calling?

The women at the 714 number said that the reason people cant get thru is that the queue is full and that you had to call and redial until you got a different message. Because the queue is full calls get routed to the automated system. She said it only took 15 minutes for people to get thru. I tried for 45 minutes and 200 calls. Nothing.
The EDD appears to be closing access. I would encourage all not to give out the name of folks who help you to protect them.

There should be a class action against the EDD. I have been working for 15 straight years and paying my taxes. They cut my claim 6 months short out of the blue. I have a family to feed. I cant get ONE person to answer the phone and web will not resolve the issue. Rude horrible people. If they are not going to do their jobs I should not be required to pay them taxes. PERIOD.

I had previous success with the 714 number, but when I tried to follow up today, I had a different experience altogether. The woman who answered (after I pressed zero several times) said that the department is Over Payment. So if your call is not related to Over Payment, they will transfer you back to the 800 EDD telephone number. When I told her that my issues were not related to her department, she transferred me directly.

I don't know what to do. Tele-cert didn't work for me; I sent an email the other day, and a woman at the local EDD office said that they will answer back between two and ten BUSINESS days.

it's 4.30pm on a Friday, so a bit of a stress test here: the phone rang 10 times, then told me all ops busy, hit 0 to continuing wait, or call back later. Went through that cycle 5 times, and then a live op answered! Total wait time less than a minute. Chick was serious efficient too - sorted me out in record time.

No luck here. After multiple attempts and multiple times hitting zero (sometimes it gives you the 'press 0 to continue waiting message' and at other times it just hangs up), I reached someone who answered by saying "Overpayments department" I said two words about a disability claim and she transferred me back to the 1-800 number.

1121am PST - The 714-687-4400 number was just the 800 number menus. Pressed 0's as suggested above, and nothing happened. Phoned the 909-799-8700 number and a nice lady picked up right away and transferred me to a very helpful person who took time to listen and research my issue. She made sure everything was taken care of. Extremely pleased.

I was very nice and friendly.....good morning, please, thank you.....it goes a long way. Good luck!!

So grateful for this information...as stated zeveral times, the 800 numbers do not allow you to speak to a rep...the 714 posted worked IMMEDIATELY (i was totally shocked)...the op. transferred me, and from there, followed the promts (pushing 0), several times (less than 5-7 mind, i guess), and then someone finally picked up!! Yes it does work! I called the 714#. Unfortunately they could not helped me, but as everyone else says, all ladies were very nice. I waited for a while pressing 0. After about 20 mins, the operator said she could not keep me on hold. She transferred me to leave a message and told me that if I was not called within one hour I should call back. She gave a new # here it is 909 383-4663. I didn't have to call back because I received a call within 1/2 hr! All the best and many Blessings to all and of course to Kevin for starting this..

I kept having to press the zero button (about 6 times), and then a message finally came on asking for my SSN (which I immediately input), and then a second message came on asking for my PASSWORD (which I immediately then input the last 4 digits of my SSN)...AND THEN THE OPERATOR CAME ON THE LINE AND HELPED ME RESOLVE MY QUESTION.

Calling this # didn't seem to work for me. I got the overpayment line, and the gentleman who answered offered to transfer me back to the 800# that had already rejected my call numerous times. The infuriating part is that initially someone had answered my call on the 800# after a short wait, but as soon as they answered, they hung up!

I tried the 909 number and was told they couldn't help or transfer. They were kind, but unyielding.

So I reverted to calling the 800 #. I DID IT AT EXACTLY AT 8AM.

To ensure I would get through quickly. I practiced going through the phone prompts so at 8am I could do it quickly. As of today, this is what will get you through quickly without having to listen to them...for disability, not FMLA. After the 800 auto answers dial each of these numbers and just wait for a second to hear the beginning of the next prompt and then go.

This didn't work for me unfortunately, I tried every trick suggested on this website without success :-( I also tried contacting EDD through Umployment Online, but I never got a response back to any of my emails in 2 weeks.
Here's what finally did work for me, and *bonus* it was easy and fast! I called my local EDD office at 2:30 pm Friday (took 5 mins, got 2 busy signals, hung up, got a live person on the third try).
I explained my situation, and even though it was after noon call center cutoff hours, they were able to immediately transfer me over to a live representative at the central office who was friendly & resolved the issue for me (wages missing, causing 4/5/20 claim to be denied) all within 15 minutes total.
*** This may be the key, I live in a rural area of California. If you are unable to get a hold of a human at your local EDD office, try calling a rural office instead.
Sincerely hope this helps sometime else, good luck everyone!

[Updated]

This is how I finally got through to a live human after unsuccessfully trying to call and email them for 2 weeks *bonus* it was easy and fast!

I tried every hack & trick posted online without luck, this time I called my local EDD office at 3 pm Friday. It only took 5 mins - 2 busy signals, hung up, got a live person on 3rd try.

I explained my problem and even though it was after noon, when the state call center closes, they were able to immediately transfer me over to a live rep at the state office who was friendly & resolved the issue for me (wages missing, causing my claim to be denied) all within 15 minutes total.

*** TL;DR
I called at an off-peak time AND I live in a low population, rural county in California.
If you're unable to reach a human through the state Unemployment phone numbers, or your local EDD office, try calling a rural office instead.

To find a rural county office, search EDD on Google Maps. It will show a list & map of offices with numbers.

Sincerely hope this helps someone else, good luck everyone!

This just worked for me the other day. I called one of the numbers above that Leah posted, and the nice lady told me to call the Redding EDD office. Their number is: (530)225-2185. I guess they are actually a Workforce of America office, but they are able to patch you directly through to a live representative at the EDD. When you call the number above you get an recording and a bunch of options. Choose the option that says something like "to talk to a workforce of america office staff". I spoke with a guy named Corey. They will try to help you and if they can't ask them to please connect you directly to EDD. BTW...I didn't even need to ask Corey, he just automatically did it after he wasn't able to help me. They open at 8am, I called shortly after they open. Good luck!

Cycles through 'operators are busy' message, then rings 1 to 7 times, depending on cycle, then returns to 'operators are busy' message. Keep pressing '0' to remain in queue. Makes wierdest sound when going from busy message to 'hold: sounds like the clanks on Law & Order!
Not yet through but persisting!

Chuck's method is spot on. After hours of holding with "operators are busy" message cycling through and numerous disconnections, I tried pressing "0" at every prompt to do so and was connected without hold music in 15 minutes. Was given the number to the office holding my claim, which then gave me the number to another office that connected me with an adjuster.
As of 4/23, anecdotal evidence suggest to me that if you are getting frequent disconnections, the phone system is overwhelmed and you should consider breaking and trying again in an hour. I noticed the frequency of disconnections progressively lessened throughout the day.
Avoid 8003005616 and 8339782511, I wasted about 16 hours trying to get through. After 3 hrs calling 415 351 7200, operator there directed me to another office.
Your SSN dictates what office will handle your claim, and even then they may direct you to yet another office to sort out your particular issue. Once you have gotten past the 1st wall it seems like everyone is on your side and trying their best to push things through.
Be persistent in your efforts and approach it as you would a job. I scheduled myself to dedicate 9 hours a day to the task, with two of those days having no success whatsoever. The adjuster I spoke to was super positive, and hopefully I will bear witness to a positive outcome middle of next week by her estimates. Good luck everybody.

Success!!! 909-799-8700 worked!!! After 15 minutes of busy signals and redials the phone was picked up by Beverly who was kind and very helpful, guiding me to the PDF Form to be filled out by hand and faxed in. Apparently, after UI Benefits expire you have to re-apply for UI Benefits, but, cite 'COVID Pandemic' at the top of each page on the hardcopy form that you fax back in (Fax # on page 12 of the set of forms). So glad to make forward progress after weeks and weeks of phone tree 'loops', misinformation from EDD Online, and endless busy signals!!! Beverly was wonderful, our UI System on the phone & online has significant room for improvement to serve us taxpayers. For now, I'm really thankful! Awesome inputs and 'hacks' plus relational support on this site! Thanks to Kenny, Steve, and all!!!! Chuck

The 909-799-8700 absolutely works! I stumbled across this thread 10 minutes before 8am and just gave the phone number a shot at about 7:55am. The phone didn't even ring before an EDD worker named Mark answered. My concerns were regarding my ID Verification status and me never receiving my EDD account number to register for UI Online. He had no update on the ID verification status other than everything is backed up and it might take another week (I submitted ID docs 4/22), but he was able to give my my customer account number that I've been waiting for since 4/6!

Here is what I found to do. Go to your local EDD office. They have (1) phone for outsiders to use to contact main EDD specialists (get there early for opening!!). This call will not hang up and and put you in a holding que (could be like 40+ mins) but at least you will get thru to get your stuff handled. This phone is only avail usually from 8am-12pm M-F. Good luck!

My local office says it’s closed bc of covid but it let me leave a voicemail for someone at the local office to call me back within one business day on Friday so hopefully they call me today (Monday)

714-736-3000. Is this a scam? I got a call and the lady asked me for my SSN and when I asked if I can give her my customer account number she said SSN. I gave it to her and told her problem and she transferred me to a man with an accent. I told him my problem and I started typing but never answered me back. I kept saying hello many times and after 5 minutes my call got discontinued. Did anyone else get picked up by a lady and was transferred to someone else? I keep thinking it may be a scam but I already gave my SSN.
