Below is a transcription of the most recent message from the EDD when you call (800) 300-5616.
Effective May 20th, 2013, the EDD representatives will only be available by telephone from 8am to 12 noon Monday through Friday. The reduced hours are due to reduced scheduled funding limiting available staff. Employees in the afternoon will be focused on processing unemployment payments.
EDD recommends you file new claims via eApply4UI, submit claim questions on AskEDD, and certify for benefits using EDD Web-Cert or EDD Tele-Cert. Please use our self-service options on our website at www.edd.ca.gov or by calling our self-service line at (866) 333-4606.
Additionally as part of sequestration, the US Congress requires that all states cut the benefit amount of the Federal Emergency Unemployment Compensation or EUC Program for extensions effective April 28, 2013 or after. You can find additional information about the sequestration cuts, including the sequestration reduction calculator on our website.
Our offices are currently closed. However, recorded information is available 24 hours a day to give you answers to the most common questions. If you would like to talk to a representative, please call back between 8am and 12pm Pacific Time, Monday through Friday. We are closed holidays.
